It felt like it took about 3 lifetimes of stress, agony, waiting, blood, sweat, tears, and the Lord's never-ending great faithfulness to get us to this day, but it finally came!
The beautiful poem Annie wrote for us:
To Von & K
For Carissa, on gaining two sons.
So many times, I've seen you run.
And you never run as if you carry all that you do.
How do you run so fast?
Today they tell us what we have known;
That you are ours. And so you are of us, now.
That is what it means. You've been brought in.
But know this; it is a ragged crew.
We are bedraggled, but we will call you "brother".
We are impatient, but here, you'll be called "son".
We were all brought in.
One by one; running, and then--called son.
Carrying so much, and then--called brother.
Welcome now;
We knew you when we saw you. And--
Ten thousand cheers! ...we will finish now, together.
