Happy Birthday to our dear Louisa Joy

Louisa Joy joined us at 10:36 AM on 1/21/2014.  She was 7#7oz.  No one ever told us how long she was.  The c-section was relatively uneventful.  Carissa was a champ as usual.  Louisa came out screaming and made a great transition to the real world.  Pictures speak louder than words, so here's a walk through her birthday.  Thanks to everyone who prayed for our darling girl.  We're overwhelmed, but at peace.

All systems go.

This was my (Nick's) view from behind the curtain -- surgeon's feet.

Happy drugs gave her a peaceful rest while they worked.

First look, first breath, came out screaming!

Amazing girl!

I'll always have her first kiss...

That says 7#7oz. (7th kid).  777 is Biblical number of perfection.  Agreed.

Louisa meets Mom on her way to recovery.

Louisa meets Grammi and Grandpa.

Noah and Natalie came up to meet their sister.  The other kids will come tomorrow.

The other Grammi and Grandpa say, "Nice to meet you."

The cardiology fellow was so nice to give us a lecture and drawing to explain HLHS.  All the doctors and nurses and support people have been amazing.  This place is world class and feels like it (hard for a Spartan to admit, but it's true).

Little peepers.

Finally, Mommy gets to hold her daughter.  Bonding is tough in these circumstances, but this helped a lot.

Daddy finally gets a turn.  After her surgery on Thursday, we'll have to let Jesus' arms do all the holding for a while.  Good, strong, capable arms.

And if  Louisa wasn't prize enough, a cookie bouquet is a reasonable second.
